Parcours professionnel
I hold a degree in Political Science and History from Sam Houston State University and built my career in public service, negotiation, and community work. Through roles with Texas cities and the Main Street Program, I negotiated contracts between municipalities and private businesses, including agreements with major medical corporations to bring services into rural communities. My work has also included international coordination, negotiating agreements across three countries to facilitate the exchange of World War II artifacts between museums. Earlier, as the owner of an entertainment company, I negotiated performer contracts and resolved disputes in high-pressure environments, developing the ability to reach practical agreements while maintaining working relationships. In addition, I have served as a public speaker and guest lecturer for law enforcement on domestic violence and child abuse, and have worked extensively in dog rescue, training, and placement for specialized service roles.
Expérience dans la médiation
My mediation work is grounded in both professional negotiation and direct service with individuals in crisis. I have provided pro bono mediation services across multiple Texas counties, working with families and individuals facing complex and emotionally charged disputes. My background includes service as a foster parent, EMT, mental health peer counselor, assault crisis line counselor, and Civil Air Patrol search and rescue officer, as well as liaison work with the United Way and the Department of Family and Protective Services. These roles required steady communication, neutrality, and the ability to help people navigate difficult decisions under stress. I approach mediation with a focus on structure, clarity, and respect, helping parties move from conflict toward practical agreements they can carry forward in their daily lives.

Approche et philosophie de médiation
My approach is grounded in transformational and restorative mediation, with a focus on improving communication, not just reaching an agreement. I guide the process while the parties remain in control of both the conversation and the outcome. I help each person speak clearly, build confidence, and better understand the other’s perspective, shifting interactions from reactive to constructive. This often leads to more thoughtful, lasting agreements and, when needed, a healthier way of moving forward in ongoing relationships.
Expérience de dossiers complexes
In a multi-parcel land assembly project, progress stalled for over a year due to one holdout, an elderly couple who refused substantial offers because they did not want to leave their home. I worked directly with the couple to understand their priorities and concerns, which differed from the assumptions driving prior negotiations. Within two hours, we reached an agreement that met everyone’s needs. The city provided a nearby lot at a nominal cost, and the corporation funded the relocation and refurbishment of the couple’s home along with financial compensation. The couple remained in a home they loved with reduced upkeep, while their family retained both financial benefit and the property as an investment. This resolution succeeded by focusing on underlying interests rather than positions, creating an outcome that worked for all parties.
