Description of Practice

I specialize in employment, workplace and labour matters. I facilitate mediations for grievances and employment disputes, workplace harassment, employment relationship breakdowns, and health and safety issues. As an educator and Health & Safety Advisor, and Childcare Agencey owner/operator, I have expertise in both education and childcare sector labour and related issues.
I am also available for community dispute resolution and facilitated conversations.

Professional Background

My experience has been gained through 30 years of Labour  Relations and representation in the education sector. After graduating and entering the workforce in a unionized childcare  centre I became shop steward within the year which ignited my passion for Labour Relations.  I transitioned to public  education where I continued as a union representative moving  through the ranks to Vice-president and owner/operator of a licensed Home Child Care Agency. I have worked in many capacities at the Association including Labour Relations Officer, Health & Safety Advisor & trainer, Negotiations Officer, Grievance Officer, and Health & Wellness Officer. 
During my extensive career in labour relations, I have acted in the capacity of both - the union and as an employer. While working and representing workers I embarked on my formal education in labour relations and mediation through the University of Windsor Faculty of Law, York University Ossgood Hall, Athabasca University HRLR and Toronto Metropolitan University.

Mediation Experience

I have extensive knowledge and experience in the public education sector. I have experience mediations and negotiations with parties such as the Ministry of Education, individual School Boards and an education worker association as well as Child Care Centre's and Child Care Worker Unions.

My passion for empowering people come to self directed, resolutions is a driving force in my practice.

Fees

$1200 plus expenses and HST for half-day; $2400 plus expenses and HST for full eight-hour day including prep time. Additional hours $300 per hour or part thereof. No charge for travel within 50 km of home, CRA mileage thereafter.
