Mediation Approach & Philosophy
My approach is simple: **Clarity First. Then Negotiation.** I believe people make better decisions when they understand the legal, financial, and parenting issues before they are asked to negotiate them. I work to identify missing information early, explain complicated issues in plain English, and help both parties understand the practical consequences of different options. I use both facilitative and evaluative mediation techniques. I remain neutral, respect each party’s right to make their own decisions, and help move the discussion from fixed positions toward realistic, workable solutions. My goal is not simply to reach an agreement, but to help the parties create clear terms that reduce future conflict and work for their family long after the mediation is complete.
Representative Cases Handled as a Mediator
Divorce and legal separation; custody and parenting plans; child and spousal support; division of homes and real estate; retirement accounts and pensions; stock options and RSUs; business and complex financial issues; military divorce; LGBTQ+ family law matters; prenuptial and postnuptial agreements; and post-judgment modifications.
Complex Case Experience
I regularly mediate financially and legally complex divorce matters involving high-value real estate, business interests, retirement accounts and pensions, stock options and RSUs, separate and community property claims, tracing and reimbursement issues, support, military benefits, and tax considerations. As both a family law attorney and Certified Divorce Financial Analyst® (CDFA®), I help parties organize complex financial information, understand the consequences of different settlement structures, and evaluate options before negotiating. I also handle cases involving difficult parenting issues, significant income disparities, post-judgment disputes, and situations where multiple financial, legal, and parenting issues must be resolved together as part of one comprehensive settlement.
Fees
Flat-fee mediation is available for most divorce and family law matters. Fees vary depending on the scope and complexity of the case. Hourly mediation and consulting services are also available.
